Chateaubriand, the star of Don Quijote’s menu

Chateaubriand

Chateaubriand is no doubt the house’s most popular dishes here at Don Quijote Restaurante Marbella. All of our cuts are proudly prepared at your table and intended for two. Nothing but the absolute best quality beef tenderloin is used.

We select only the best meat from diverse areas of Spain as well as Europe depending on the season, in order to ensure its top freshness and flavour. After all, a tender sirloin with no flavour to it would be useless for our dishes, and thus unacceptable.

Here at Don Quijote, we serve our Chateaubriand just slightly cooked on the outside while leaving it totally raw inside. This means the meat will be finished by the client on their table by using a set of special stones that are kept at a high temperature. This is one of Don Quijote’s differentiating values and our clients’ preferred option, as they get to prepare their own dish, check the freshness of our meat for themselves and cook it up to the point the like best. Please visit About us to learn more.

All of our grill dishes are served with optional sauce and potatoes. You can also have an additional side to choose between french fries, scalloped or mashed potatoes; mushrooms and onion, seasonal vegetables, or crispy fried onion. Clients at Don Quijote Restaurante Marbella can also choose between béarnaise sauce, pepper sauce or BBQ sauce. Please check our menu to learn more about our grilled meat dishes.

Nowadays in fact, Chateaubriand is often served with béarnaise sauce and potatoes and/or seasonal vegetables as a side. This sauce is a mixture of butter, egg, vinegar and lemon with parsley, tarragon, salt and pepper, to enhance the flavour of such a tender, exquisite tenderloin even further. Chateaubriand steak, or simply Chateaubriand, is quite representative of French cuisine, and its origin is up to debate. It is widely accepted that it was created by french vicomte François-René de Chateaubriand, or more appropriately by his personal chef, Montmirail, who conceived it in 1820. However, another theory focuses on the alternate spelling of the surname, Châteaubriant, a town located in the historical and cultural region of Brittany and one of the three sous-préfectures of the Loire-Atlantique department. It is known for its castle and its high quality beef.

If you wish to savour an excellent meat in a privileged location, come visit us and explore our wine list, which features both national and international awarded names. Also, after enjoying the best Chateaubriand you can find, let yourself be surprised by our homemade desserts, from a mango and passion fruit foam, lemon meringue and coconut ice cream, to our irresistible lukewarm fondant with a heart of white chocolate, served with vanilla ice cream.
